Cornell Rouge is located in a new neighbourhood in the east of Markham, compromising mainly single-family homes. The well-designed neighbourhood has a number of parks and natural areas for residents to enjoy. There are two elementary schools in the neighbourhood that, while new, are already well regarded: Black Walnut (ranked 213/3046 in Ontario) and St. Joseph Catholic school (ranked 334/3046 in Ontario). The neighbourhood is also in the school boundary for Bill Hogarth secondary school, which ranks 45th out of 738 secondary schools in Ontario.
In terms of amenities and transit, there are some good local options. Mount Joy GO station is only a short drive to the west and offers train services to downtown Toronto. Meanwhile, the area around Mount Joy has a wide range of big box stores and smaller businesses that serve the local community.
